Break

A breakdown of my break this week so far:

Monday: Lazy day at home with Brian. I only left the house twice...once that morning to get us Mexican food then that night to go see my grandparents with my mom for Christmas leftovers.

Tuesday: I actually got up and around early and went shopping at the supercenter then came home and cooked some pretty awesome chicken pasta and asparagus...ok Brian may have cooked the asparagus but I did everything else.
Yum!
We watched 6 recorded episodes of How I Met Your Mother tonight. We both have a new found love for this show and luckily there are several reruns on a day...which are all new to us! Plus we found out that new episodes start on this coming Monday! The only bad thing is that the reruns we watch come on 3 different channels...from 3 different years. The closest we are to now is 2009 so we will be so lost in the new ones but I love finding shows we both really love...which doesn't happen really often!

Wednesday: I (or maybe the playstation) watched Skylar and deep cleaned the house. I hate deep cleaning because to me it's not really noticeable like picking up everyday but is way harder. For instance, I spent 2 hours on cleaning mini blinds. Who even notices that? Oh well, it has to be done sometimes. The good news is for supper we both had leftovers! Super easy!

Today is Thursday and I am depressed because we have passed the halfway point of my break. :( I took down all the Christmas decorations today and put them away then put our house back to its pre-Christmas normalness. Also I watched a marathon of Real Housewives of NY, which I've never watched. I always watch RHO Beverly Hills and Orange County and I've watched a few from Atlanta. These women are all crazy and I cannot believe that some people really have lives like that! It's insane to me.

Tonight Brian and Zach grilled hamburgers while I made fries. We all ate then Chris came over. He's moving to Texas tomorrow for a new job. I can't believe my break is over half way over but so far it has been great! I feel like I have gotten SO much accomplished so far. Now if only we can find some New Years Eve plans...

Our First Christmas

Our 1st Christmas Tree
We had a great first married Christmas! We already knew our big gifts to each other but our stockings were surpises. For big gifts, I got Brian his foosball table that I already gave him when it came in and he got me a remote start for my car! I get it installed January 4th and I'm super excited!! I hate getting in a cold car in the winter and waiting forever for my window to defrost. We had a busy Christmas Eve. We started by exchanging gifts and eating desserts at his moms at 5:30 then went straight to my grandmas then straight from there to my parents at 8. We stayed at my parents until 1 then got up around 10 on Christmas. We opened our stockings from each other then I got ready to go to my grandmas for lunch.
Our stockings
After we tore into them. I'm so excited about the Jack Johnson CD Brian got me.
I'm kinda addicted to him right now.
Brian's family came here and cooked their Christmas steaks. When I got back we all played foosball then Brians nephew Luke entertained us. He's the funniest kid. After everyone left, I attempted to take a Christmas nap but it never happened. We ended up going to get Peggy (Brian's dog who has been missing) then drove around and saw these crazy clouds.
Pretty Christmas clouds
The funny story about Peggy is that she has been missing for a few days and on Christmas, a girl Brian graduated with posted a picture of her on Facebook saying they found her and named her Queen. She lives right up the road from Brian's dad, where Peggy stays, so we went and got her. On Christmas night we had some people over and yesterday got to spend a lazy day together doing NOTHING! Today Brian is back at work and I need to be cleaning. I don't have a Christmas picture yet of us this year; I'll have to get it from my mom, but for fun, here are some of us through the years. Our first Christmas was in 2004, but we had only been dating a month. The first one I could find was from 2006 so here goes:

Fridays

There is something about a Friday that makes you happy. But when you're on a break from work, Fridays aren't as exciting. This Friday, I spent my day alone (with a sleeping Macy) cleaning and watching the Americas Next Top Model marathon...and wrapping a few last minute presents. I never watch ANTM when it is new, but LOVE the marathons...like to a point of sitting for 6 straight hours addicted.

Literally Macy's day consists of sleeping.
I can't wake her if I try, she just sighs at me and moves to a new location.
Tyra is nuts, but I can't stop watching her!
Last night Brian got home late due to some last minute shopping after work. Zach showed up shortly after Brian then the 3 of us went to 2(...yes 2) bonfires before ending up back at our house for an intense fooball tournament.
I finally got a pic of some of the action
I love being involved in the tournaments but have to admit that they are way more exciting when I'm watching. I am still learning and the boys are on a whole other level than I am. They get intense.
On another note, I cannot believe today is Christmas Eve!! I am so excited for my first Christmas with Brian in our own house. This is actually our 8th Christmas together which seems unreal to me. We have a busy 2 days ahead of us with bouncing back and forth between families and I have some Christmas candy to finish up so MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Missing Mexico

As I was just cleaning my house with Pandora blaring, the Zach Brown Band song Toes came on. It's now one of those songs that makes you think of a certain time. I will never hear it again without thinking of Mexico...or actually the drive home after Mexico. We went to Mexico for our honeymoon, then flew back into Florida, then made a 12 hour drive home.

My car was packed full
I remember driving home exhausted but extremely happy to be sitting next to my husband and returning back to AR a married couple and to go home together to our house and this song came on. It is basically about Mexico and we just laughed because we were both sad our trip was over and knew it may be a while before we go back...if we ever get to. So now every time I hear it, I remember that feeling I had right at that moment. I was so happy to be married and believe it or not, the 12 hour drive after a plane ride and 2 layovers was actually one of my favorite memories. It was so nice to be together and back in the U.S. and knowing that we were about to start our lives together. It was a feeling of uncertainty. We knew it would be good, but honestly we did not know what to expect. And yes at that point we had been married for a week, but it had been a week of vacations and craziness so that was the first time to me that it felt real. It all hit me at that moment that Brian was my husband and we were going home to a house together.
I was so excited when these came in the mail!
Last night in Mexico
We loved the beach bar
These people were set up singing and dancing. They were pretty amazing.

Annual Dallas Trip

A few days ago Brian's sister gave me this picture she took of us at the Texas A&M game this year.

October 2011
Normally we don't do big birthday gifts but last year was my first year teaching so I surprised Brian with tickets to the A&M game in Dallas. It was short notice since the game was only 5 days after his birthday, but we had so much fun and decided it would be an annual trip. Last year we went with his brother (Benito) and his wife (Britney). This year we went with his other brother (Joey), sister (Catherine), and her husband (Andy). Hopefully next year we can all go!

2010-I bought him this frame for his birthday
and hid the tickets under it.
They were supposed to play the game at the Cowboys Stadium for 10 years, and we were hoping to make 9 (we missed the first one).  Now that A&M has joined our conference, I'm hoping they continue to do the game there every year! Here's a comparison of our pics from the last 2 years. Hopefully we will have 7 more to add to the collection one day!

This is all random since it happened in October, but as soon as Catherine gave me the picture my mind was right back to that trip...and that food!

Christmas Break

My 8 kids that were still here at the end of the day today.
Poor Summer was the only girl all day!
My Christmas Break has officially started!! I have some last minute shopping to finish up...mostly Brian's stocking then it is relaxation time! I love my kids, but I am definitely in need of a break! These last 2 days have been 1:00 dismissal days which was amazing, and today I only had 10 kids show up. I have decided that breaks are very necessary to keep us teachers sane! :)

Meet Macy

We have one beautiful fur child Macy.
Being lazy by her dad
We laugh because neither of us ever thought we would be "those crazy dog people," but we definitely are! We talk to Macy like she is a person and she is spoiled rotten! She also goes everywhere with us, sleeps between us, and takes up most of the bed and we don't mind a bit! She turned 2 in April and I can't imagine not having her around. She's our baby! So here are some pics of our gorgeous child.
Always sleeping
She is the laziest dog in the world.

She does occassionaly like to go for a ride with us!

Our Weekend

This weekend was about like our usual. We really don't get many weekends alone lately so that is what I wanted Friday night, but it didn't work out. Some of Brians friends showed up and we ended up playing foosball. They did at least play teams so I got to be Brian's partner. We won most of the games, which is crazy because I am no good! We ended up having fun though.

Here is a pic of the foosball table before it was done.
Notice no men, but it is the only pic I have of it.
Yesterday we went to Fort Smith to eat for my annual birthday dinner. We always go to Chilis for our birthdays...since we were 17. We had been kinda burnt out on it lately but went there anyways and it was actually really good. I guess we got over the burn out. Last night, I got my night alone with Brian and I was very excited. We ended up backroading which is so us and so something we haven't done on forever so it was nice!
This is an old picture of us from before we were married,
but I have no pics from this weekend so it works.

Today has been a pretty lazy day for the most part. I cleaned and had some alone time while Brian went mountain biking with one of his friends. As much as I love spending time with him, I have to admit alone time is nice sometimes. I painted my nails and watched all of dvr'd Sex In the City episodes. I was never into that show until recently and now I'm addicted. I have my dvr set to record all of the reruns and I love when I have time to get caught up! So there's a recap of our usual weekend routine.

Getting Started

I am just starting this blog to keep up with our lives! We are newlyweds who are enjoying life by ourselves before kids! We have been together over 7 years now and are in our 5th month of marriage. So far, I absolutely love being married to my best friend! We ran off to a beach in Florida with mostly family and a few close friends in July to (FINALLY) tie the knot. Here are some pics from our wedding.
